The question bank

The bank has 500 original multiple-choice questions on data and technology for development, in ten sections of 50. Each question has four options and one correct answer. The file includes a short answer key and a second key that explains each answer in one sentence, which you can read out after a test or hand to learners.

The questions range from recall to application and analysis. They were written for this bank and checked for accuracy.

How trainers use it

Pre and post tests. Draw two parallel sets of questions from the same sections. Give one before a module and the other after it, so a learner cannot score higher on the second simply by remembering the first.
Module quizzes. Each section of 50 lines up with a topic, so a short quiz at the end of a session can come from the section that session covered.
Item analysis. After a test, count how many learners chose each option. A question nearly everyone gets right is too easy to tell learners apart, and a wrong option nobody picks is doing no work. Both are worth replacing from the bank.
Discussion. The explanation key gives the reasoning behind each answer, which makes a wrong answer a starting point for a class discussion.
