The Data Room

Ten free, interactive explorers built on India's own official surveys. Read on their own, each answers a plain-language question about the country. Read together, they trace one continuous life-course — from a child's first reading test to the wage economy, the ballot box, and the caste line drawn at the kitchen door.

Free forever · no login · no paywall · the government's own numbers
Why one room? A single survey is a snapshot. Placed side by side, these ten become a story with a spine — the same child who sits in an under-equipped classroom (UDISE+), struggles to read a simple paragraph (ASER), drifts further from the syllabus each year (NAS) and mostly never reaches college (AISHE) grows into the worker counted by PLFS, the migrant traced in the Census, and the voter tallied by the Election Commission — all the while carrying the caste line the IHDS still finds drawn at the kitchen door, and all of it running on the power grid the Energy explorer maps. Pick your own state or district and read your own numbers.

Accountability — the claim & the audit

How these are built. Every explorer draws on the official published survey — no scraping of unofficial mirrors passed off as source, no invented figures. Where a number is derived (e.g. a district-level average assembled from official learning-outcome figures), the explorer says so plainly and shows how close it lands to the published total. If a figure can't be sourced and validated, it isn't shown. The Scheme Tracker follows the same rule with a different pairing — an official government claim beside an official audit finding (the CAG, a parliamentary committee, or official data), both cited, no commentary.
