Consent for the interview is not consent for the story
A case study is the part of an evaluation most likely to be read, shared and quoted, and the part most likely to harm someone named in it. A person who agrees to answer questions for a report may be unwilling to be the face of a success story, and may regret it when the story travels.
This pack gives you the case study in eight sections and the consent process in six steps. A consent form offers four choices of how the person appears and a right to read the draft and to withdraw. A checklist helps you anonymise, and a record sheet lets you find the consent a year later. A box of checked law covers consent under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, children, and the rule against publishing anything that identifies a victim of certain sexual offences.
