The answer on page one, not page sixty
Most evaluation reports follow the order of the data collection. The reader meets the answer on page sixty. A commissioner with twenty minutes reads an executive summary that was written last and in a hurry, and misses what matters.
This template reverses the order. In seven steps you write the answer in two sentences, the three arguments that support it, the findings under each argument with their evidence and strength, the headlines of every section and the recommendations. A test with a colleague finds the holes before the client does. The storyline becomes the skeleton of the report and the executive summary is its first draft.
It uses the ratings from the Evidence Strength Rating Guide and ranks recommendations with the Impact and Ease Prioritisation Matrix. The Inception Report Template holds the question the storyline answers.
