Send the news while it is still small
Clients are rarely angry about bad news. They are angry about news that arrives late. A weekly note sends it while it is still small: a field team a week behind, an extract that has not come, a budget line running hot. Each is easy to fix in week four and costly to explain in week twelve.

A final table sets the escalation rule, so nobody is surprised by who is called and when. Definitions of red, amber and green keep the lights honest.

How is it different from the Donor Report Template?
The status note is a weekly one-pager to your client during the work. The Donor Report Template is a longer report to a funder at the end of a period.
Can I change the thresholds for amber and red?
Yes. The starting figures are a sensible default. Agree your own with the client and write them into the charter.
